What is good dog grooming?
Many people think grooming and they think of a quick brush over the surface of a dog’s coat. However, this is only a superficial brush and not what grooming actually is.
Dog grooming is a thorough and time-consuming part of a dog owner’s routine and should not be overlooked despite your busy schedule. You can do this yourself at home or employ a dog groomer but either way, it’s important and should never be overlooked.
So, what is good dog grooming if it’s not just a quick brush?
BATHE THEM AND BRUSH THEIR COAT – brush your dog’s coat to remove any tangles or knots, to prevent matting and to remove any loose dander
CHECK AND CLEAN THEIR TEETH – cleaning a dog’s teeth will reduce bad breath but more than that it will stop plaque building up which can cause severe pain and gum disease if left untreated, it will also ensure that you find early any dental issues such as an absess
CHECK AND CLEAN THEIR EARS – you can do this at home with cotton wool and an ear cleaning solution to stop build up and dirt
CLIP THEIR NAILS – you should keep your dog’s nails short so they don’t bend over, causing infections or problems with walking
CHECK AND CLEAN THEIR EYES – if you dog has longer hair this can build up dirt and loose dander around the eyes which could lead to eye infections, keeping this area clean is important. You can use a small comb for this to remove debris but avoid using a metal comb which can be intimidating. Try the Tedster comb which is small enough to work in small places and is made of 100% natural bamboo,
