What type of dogs does Happy Tears work on?

Happy Tears works on all breeds of dog. Although dogs with white or light coloured fur tend have tear stains that are more visible they can be present on all types and breeds of dog. Do I need the standard kit?

If this is the first time you are using Happy Tears then you will need to purchase the standard kit, which has everything you need for the 3-step treatment. The individual powder or solution are to top you up once you’ve used the it for a while.

What if I need help with the product?

We offer round the clock support via our social media channels (Instagram and Facebook) and we’re happy to facetime to talk you through any problems or concerns you have - just get in touch and we’ll be there for you!

My dog wont let me near her eyes with the comb, what can I do?

This might depend on what type of comb you’re using. If you’re using a metal comb these can tug or pull at the hair making the process painful for your dog. It can also be scary having something sharp near your eye so consider using a wooden comb, small in size and designed specifically for smaller, more delicate areas such as the Tedster. Again, it will take time and patience to get your dog used to a new grooming routine.

Help the treatment isn't working for me!

Don’t worry, we sometimes have customers who struggle with routine of applying Happy Tears and so it’s important to reiterate the steps you need to take to see successful results:

1. Comb the area and remove any gunk or debris caught in your dog’s fur
2. Dry the fur thoroughly ensuring there is no moisture left around the staining
3. Apply the solution once to cleanse and sterilise the stained area
4. Work the powder into the fur to treat the staining and leave it on there
5. If your fur baby tears lots during the day make sure you mop up any excess moisture with the bamboo cloth or finger wipes and, if needed, apply more powder.

On top of these steps make sure that you keep the area dry at all times, mopping up any tearing that occurs throughout the day.

Is it all really natural?

Yes, our product is all natural, vegan and contains no nasties at all. Our main list of ingredients can be found here.

My dog is pregnant, can I still use the product?

Yes, because it’s all natural and human-grade it’s perfectly safe to use on pregnant dogs.

Can I use Happy Tears on my puppy?

Yes, absolutely, it’s safe to use on puppies - we’ve already had great results with young dogs and puppies using our products.

My dog is scared of the spray bottle, what can I do?

If your dog is really scared on the sound the spray bottle makes, make sure you turn away and spray directly into the bamboo cloth to dull the sound and reduce distress. As with everything it will take time and patience to get them used to the treatment and the different things you have to do.

Once I have done the treatment, will the stains be gone forever?

Unfortunately not, because tear stains are a natural part of a dog’s natural response to dirt, allergies, irritation or infection. If you use the treatment consistently for about two weeks you will eradicate the stains but after this you should continue to use the comb daily to remove debris and a maintenance application of the treatment will be required a couple of days every few weeks - or when you see build up starting again.

My dog won’t sit still or let me touch his eyes!

Don’t worry if your dog is just not used to having their face touched. We’ve written a great blog on desensitizing that you can read here, that should help solve this problem so you’re able to apply the treatment.
